Nomade folding armchair in natural beech and Taurillon "Pippa" by Rena Dumas and Peter Coles for Hermès Paris
Folding armchair made of natural beech with copper accessories, seats and backrest in natural colored Taurillon Clémence, white stitching. Manufactured around 2018.
A more contemporary version of the series imagined from 1983, (this model in 1988) by Rena Dumas and Peter Coles which was originally made in pear tree.
Rena Dumas (1937 - 2009) is an interior designer and furniture designer.
She is the wife of the former president of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas with whom she will have two children, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, current artistic director of the Maison Hermès and Sandrine Dumas, actress.
Graduated in 1961 from the Higher School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Paris, she began her collaboration with the Hermès house in 1976 with the renovation and expansion of the store at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Rena Dumas is developing the first “Hermès concept” which will be found in stores around the world.
From 1983 until his death in 2009, Rena Dumas designed furniture and objects, exploring in particular “nomadic” and “folded” furniture with the travel furniture from the Pippa collection.
This line of easy to move and foldable furniture was imagined in the Hermes spirit of "moving with elegance".
