About Dante ou les neufs cercles de l'enfer by Line Vautrin - gilt bronze cuff bracelet

Gilt bronze cuff bracelet named "Dante" or "the nine circles of hell".
The bracelet consists of two rigid parts joined by a hinge on which are inscribed verses taken from the songs of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). More exactly, these are excerpts from Hell, the first part of the Divine Comedy. The next parts are Purgatory and Paradise. The rod-shaped clasp is held by a chain, it is surmounted by a head of Cerberus, in Greek mythology, Cerberus is the three-headed dog guarding the entrance to Hell ...

The bracelet is worn with the clasp towards the inside of the arm, the upper part decorated with the head of Cerberus facing upwards.

Manufactured around 1950, the bracelet is in very good original condition with its use patina. The interior bears the signature "L.V." by stamping.

On our page you will find the original drawing of the bracelet by Line Vautrin.
