About Forato Vase by Fulvio Bianconi

The “Forati” series owes its name to the holes that are pierced by a blowtorch during the production process of the pieces. The design was imagined by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini in 1951, in the very beginning of their collaboration. This series, which could recall us the Scandinavian design, uses discerning colours identified by unusual names (“grass”, “foliage”, “ocean”,…).
These works are also named “Moore vases”, with reference to the sculptor Henry Moore. Our vase is very large and has an oval shape with an extended neck and is made of an intense blue colour. The blue glass is inserted in a thick layer of transparent glass thanks to the sommerso technique. In the centre, two holes are pierced.

The vase is in excellent condition and has a few use scratches.
Designed in 1951, it is listed in the Venini archives under the reference number 4520. It was produced in the 50s and bears the acid stamp “venini murano italia” on three lines.
