Cubo, Large Paperweight or desk Sculpture, Ludovico Diaz de Santillana

unforget says

In 1971 the fashion designer Pierre Cardin was at the top of his art, also active in interior decoration and in avant-garde furniture design, Pierre Cardin commissioned Ludovico Diaz de Santillana then at the head of the artistic direction of the house Venini to design a range of objects for home decoration.
This range will include vases, large bowls and this Cubo sculpture which is available in different colors, in clear or opaque glass highlighted with one or more bands of contrasting glass.
Our cube dates from the beginning of the series around 1971, (the series was produced until the end of the 80s, the later copies being dated).
It is signed with a diamond point, "Venini Pierre Cardin", this signature being visible from the top of the cube because it is hidden by the felt at the bottom of the piece.
Excellent condition.
