Epipedos large vase (model 699.00), Fulvio Bianconi, Venini Murano (Italy)

unforget says

Epipedos is the result of the last series of vases designed by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini at the end of the 80s.
It is a large vase in hand-blown glass, geometrically shaped, the contours of which are highlighted with an application of black glass.
The body of the vase itself built in dark green colored glass in which green / blue colored bands are inserted.

The model was available in two sizes, a high vase such as the one we present to you and a low vase. It was produced until the early 2000s (Our example produced in 2002) and had the reference 699.00.

The vase is in very good condition, bears its original plastic label and is signed with diamond point “venini 2002”

At the end of the 1980s Fulvio Bianconi returned to Venini for which he designed several series of pieces. Epipedos, but also “La Donna” two very pretty Sommerso vases, the famous smile vases of which we have a few examples presented on our site but also the “ritagli ” vase which met with great commercial success and which is still in the Venini catalog today.

“Heaven help you if you start up with glass, if you do, it will never go out of you”

Fulvio Bianconi

Graphic artist, illustrator and later designer Fulvio Bianconi was born In Padue in 1915.
Fulvio has a strong predisposition for drawing and attended courses at the Academy of fine Arts in Venice. He lived from childhood in Venice itself.

In the middle of the thirties, he moved to Milan to work as a graphic designer and illustrator.

Bianconi had first contacts with Venini in 1946 when he was in charge to find a manufacture to produce Perfume bottles. He met then Poalo Venini and they built a very strong relationship.

It was the beginning of the fifties and the firms had to choice between starting new designs or continue to produce classic shapes.
Paolo and Fulvio decided to concentrate themselves on new designs…
