Graffito vase by Ercole Barovier – Barovier e Toso

This large vase is made of clear glass decorated with gold dust and lattimo glass (white opaque glass). Large glass bubbles are trapped in each “lace” of lattimo glass. According to Barovier and Toso, still in business today with a production mainly focused on lighting, this vase whose exact name is “Graffito Diafano Bianco Oro” is a variant of the “Graffito Barabarico Oro” series presented in 1969. This series, designed by Ercole Barovier and launched in 1975, remained in the catalogue for a short time period. A similar copy is to be found in the book “Art of the Barovier glassmakers in Murano” edited by Marina Barovier, Arsenale Editions, page 202. The object is signed with a diamond point “Barovier e Toso Murano”. It is in very good condition.
