Iris table lamp in bronze and brass, the petals of the iris in bronze with a "revived medal" patina.
This spectacular light comes from the “Chrystiane” collection designed by Chrystiane Charles, wife of Jean Charles, from 1971.
Chrystiane was mainly inspired by plant patterns and motifs.
It represents an iris flower, simply placed on its petals.
Made in bronze with a "revived medal" patina. Manufactured in the 1970s.
In excellent condition, unrestored with original electrification system.
"MADE IN FRANCE"
The Charles house was born in 1908 in Paris, Ernest Charles, its founder took over the ULLMAN bronze manufacturer specialized in the reproduction of old lighting and installed rue de Turenne in Paris.
In 1920, Emile Albert Charles took over the company and joined forces with his brother Pierre in 1932.
1959 is an important turning point in the history of the house, Emile Charles, still at the head of his company, is joined by his two sons, Jean and Jacques. Jean is major of the BOULLE school in section, interior architecture section, Jacques is a graduate of Applied Arts in Interior Architecture.
In 1960, the father and the two sons created the “Charles style” combining classicism and topicality. They create the Pineapple and Pine Cones, Corn and Lotus lamps.
In 1965 the Charles family created the INOX collection and the famous organ lamps which will become a reference in the creation of the period and one of the flagship products of the house.
In 1971 Christyane Charles, wife of Jean, created the collection that bears her name and from which comes the Iris lamp that we offer for sale.
In 1984, La Maison Charles joined the Colbert Committee, which brought together the most renowned French artistic and creative companies.
Charles is still in business today, offers the range of “historic” lights that have made the reputation of the house, a more “contemporary” range as well as made-to-measure lights.
