Decorative sculpture depicting a fish by Ken Scott, Venini, Murano, Italy, 1951.
Blown Murano glass sculpture depicting a stylized fish, designed by Ken Scott for the Venini glassworks in the early 1950s. The piece is characterized by an elongated, fluid silhouette, executed in translucent glass with deep plum-violet tones, enlivened by an internal decoration of fine, darker undulating striations arranged in a fan-like pattern along the entire length of the body.
An emblematic work of the decorative research carried out at Venini in the immediate post-war period, this sculpture illustrates the encounter between Ken Scott’s bold visual language and the technical mastery of Murano’s master glassmakers. Straddling the boundary between decorative object and modern sculpture, it bears witness to the spirit of innovation that characterizes Venini’s production of the 1950s.
