Set of five Pulcini glass birds by Alessandro Pianon

Rare set of five blown glass birds resting on their hammered copper legs.

These are the models designed by Alessandro Pianon for Vistosi in Murano, in 1962.

The first bird (far left) has a triangular shape. Its body is light blue colour and is decorated with a continuous line of dark amber-colored glass. The eyes are made of two hot-applied murrines.

The second bird from the left is the tallest. Its body is made of green glass, and the tail is decorated with red and blue murrines. The eyes are made of two hot-applied murrines.

As seen on our pictures, the third bird has a dark grey body that can appear as a beautiful shade of blue.
Its body is decorated with green and blue square-shaped murrines, which are alternately arranged. The eyes are made of hot-applied murrines.

The fourth bird is the one that achieved the greatest commercial success. Its body is composed of an orange glass sphere with an uncommon textured surface that imitates feathers. Two hot-applied murrines form the eyes.

The last bird (far right) has a cubic shape. Its olive-green body is decorated with blue and red murrines, and the eyes are made of two hot-applied murrines.

All five birds are in very good original condition, and each of them is perfectly executed.
