Zanfirico Murano glass lamp by Venini, Murano, Italy, 1950s.
Decorative Murano glass lamp, blown and produced by Venini in the 1950s, using the zanfirico technique. The slightly flattened spherical body is composed of a complex network of white and pale pink lattimo glass canes, finely twisted and superimposed, arranged in regular vertical bands.
The interior of the glass is deliberately frosted, a process intended to soften and diffuse the light, creating an even and enveloping illumination.
The mounting is enhanced with brass elements, while the lower extremity is adorned with a blown glass finial with a rippled edge, conceived as a sculptural motif in its own right.
