“Ramses” bracelet in gilt bronze and pink enamel by Line Vautrin, France, circa 1940–1945.
Articulated gilt bronze bracelet composed of a succession of rectangular plaques forming a continuous frieze, each surmounted by a stylized bird in low relief. The surfaces are enhanced with hot enamel in shades of pink, applied in vertical registers evoking door decorations.
Through its sequential organization and symbolic vocabulary, this bracelet illustrates Line Vautrin’s interest in signs, rebuses, and references to ancient civilizations, transposed into a modern decorative language. Both a piece of jewelry and a graphic composition, Ramses stands out for its balance between formal rigor, poetic expression, and attention to detail.
