Monumental “Valva” Bowl by Flavio Poli (1900–1984) for Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso, Murano, Italy, circa 1954–1956.
Monumental blown glass bowl executed using the sommerso technique, combining the celebrated Blu Rubino tones in a composition of remarkable chromatic depth. Its elegant asymmetrical profile, reminiscent of an opening shell, perfectly illustrates the organic vocabulary developed by Flavio Poli for Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso throughout the 1950s.
This exceptional example follows the design of the renowned model no. 9829, exhibited at the 10th Milan Triennale in 1954, while being executed on a significantly larger scale, giving it a striking sculptural presence.
The bowl retains its original Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso production label, further underscoring its place among the most iconic creations of post-war Italian art glass.
