About La dernière cène by Line Vautrin - gilt bronze paperweight with enamel decor
Gilt bronze paperweight representing Jesus his Saints and his apostles during the Last Supper.
On the back of the item, you can read, engraved in bronze, the poem by Jacques Prévert.
They are at the table
They don't eat
They are not well
And their plate is standing straight
Vertically behind their head.
The left side of the clipboard bears the signature “LINE VAUTRIN” and the name “PREVERT”.
Prévert's poem is a short satyr of the Christian religion. We learn that the apostles do not eat, their plates are vertically behind their heads mimicking the halos, so they cannot use them for their meals.
