Soleil à torsades (Twisted Sun) by Line Vautrin

Artist
Line Vautrin

“Twisted Sun” Mirror by Line Vautrin (1913–1997), France, circa 1960.
Convex mirror framed by a twisted motif border, extended by a radiating crown of slender talosel spikes. The structure, marked by a strong rhythmic precision, unfolds into a vibrant solar composition, enhanced by the convexity of the mirror which captures and diffracts light.
This example stands out for its particularly distinctive palette. While comparable models generally feature mirrors in golden tones, this piece adopts a bronze tint, deeper and more nuanced. This chromatic choice interacts with a talosel surface displaying tortoiseshell-like variations, with warm amber reflections, giving the whole a dense and subtle presence.
A mirror of remarkable execution, distinguished by the precision of its design, the quality of its craftsmanship, and finely executed incisions.
